Professor Henry He Yan is a Chair Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). He is a Hong Kong RGC Research Fellow and a recipient of the prestigious Tencent Xplorer Prize in 2020, awarded to 50 leading scientists nationwide. Prof. Yan is internationally recognized for his groundbreaking research in organic and perovskite photovoltaics, with over 300 peer-reviewed publications and more than 54,000 citations. His 2009 development of the high-mobility N-type polymer semiconductor N2200 was featured on the cover of Nature, marking a milestone in the field of organic electronics. He has since published 15 papers in Science, Nature, and their sister journals, with landmark contributions including a 2014 Nature Communications paper and a 2016 Nature Energy paper cited over 3,600 and 2,400 times, respectively.

Prof. Yan also plays a leading role in the industrialization of next-generation solar technologies in China. In 2018, he founded eFlexPV Co., Ltd., a company dedicated to the commercialization of organic and perovskite photovoltaic materials, which has received multiple national innovation and entrepreneurship awards.
