Specializing in Operations Management, Professor Lyu focuses on improving supply chain visibility and optimizing smart city operations to enhance operational efficiency and social responsibility. His exploration of multi-objective stochastic optimization in ride-sourcing markets, akin to Uber, addresses real-time supply and demand matching, improving service efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Additionally, Professor Lyu's work with the Locker Alliance Network has significantly improved last-mile delivery, reducing carbon footprints and operational costs. His research on capacity allocation in resource pooling systems and flexible production networks, provides a theoretical basis for optimizing production resources.
In e-commerce logistics, his study of Amazon’s fulfillment models offers insights into risk-adjusted strategies, assisting businesses in meeting customer demand effectively.
Collaboration is key to Professor Lyu’s approach, bridging academia and industry. His partnerships have led to impactful studies, such as developing real-time metro passenger flow policies to reduce congestion and improve passenger experience, as well as integrating machine learning techniques into the design of more effective and egalitarian cash transfer rules for poverty alleviation.
