HKUST Commences Preparations for New Medical School
HKUST officially announced the commencement of preparatory work for establishing a new medical school at a press conference held on 19 November 2025. Dedicated to training a new generation of tech-savvy doctors, the School will bolster the future readiness of the local healthcare system and advance Hong Kong's development as an international hub for medical training, research, and innovation.

Academic Enrichment Program (AEP) - “Fireworks with the Provost” (1 October 2025)
Creating a vibrant and inclusive environment where both staff and students can thrive has always been an important priority of the University. To further enrich the campus life and promote a healthy work-life balance among our faculty community, the University is establishing an Academic Enrichment Program (AEP).
Championed by Prof. Michelle Yik of Division of Social Science, this new Program aims to provide faculty members with more opportunities to engage and network with each other through different events including casual gathering and leisure activities, cultivating a stronger sense of belonging and mutual support among peers.

HKUST Provost Prof. Yike GUO Named "Leader of the Year 2024"
Prof. Yike GUO has been named "Leader of the Year 2024" in the Education/Professional/Technology and Innovation category from Sing Tao News Corporation for his transformative contributions to education and technological innovation in Hong Kong. The award ceremony was held on 20 June 2025.

Opening of HKUST Shanghai Center in Xuhui District
HKUST celebrates the opening of the HKUST Shanghai Center on 22 January 2025 at the Shanghai AI Tower in the West Bund of the Xuhui District in collaboration with the District’s Government, and the Caohejing Hi-Tech Park Development Corporation. Leveraging its strengths in chips, artificial intelligence and biomedicine, the Center is set to enhance collaboration on innovation and entrepreneurship between Hong Kong and Shanghai.

HKUST Launches Hong Kong’s First Division of Arts and Machine Creativity Blending Technology and Humanities to Nurture Talents for Creative Industries
HKUST announced on 22 July 2024 the establishment of the Division of Arts and Machine Creativity (AMC), a cross-disciplinary center that promotes the convergence of technology and art. As the first of its kind in Hong Kong, the Division will launch postgraduate (PG) programs with curricula comparable to renowned institutions like MIT's famous Media Lab to nurture Art Tech talents who can leverage cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning in art creation process.

HKUST was thrilled to join forces with Tsinghua University and launched the ‘International AI Cooperation and Governance Forum 2023’ on 8-9 December 2023.
